EGI Complete Prestigious Co-Op installation01 November 2012
“EGI have just completed the prestigious glazed partition fit out contract for the Co Op World Headquarters in Angel Square Manchester.
Working alongside our contracting partners Sound Interiors who undertook the scheme working for BAM Construction the project has been a resounding success and a fantastic project to be involved with in central Manchester.
The project for the glazed partitions was secured by EGI based on our ability in working closely with Sound Interiors and the BAM design team in ensuring the acoustic performance of the partitions were never compromised during the value engineering process of the project.
Lizzanno Uno was the glazing system utilised for the works achieving a strong acoustic performance of 39dB , this was accepted as the product following a full mock up build being undertaken to satisfy both the design team and the client.
The glass doors on the project were also critical on acoustic performance and the EGI team worked alongside Sound Interiors in providing a specification that achieved 34db which is higher than most doors within the Commercial Interiors sector, this was constructed using 12mm Toughened Glass Doors with a SSS Finish drop down seal within the Lizzanno Uno Aluminium Door Frame.
With such a special building came many challenges including the logistics for hoisting of materials to the 14 floors on the project but with the cooperation and team ethic between BAM, Sound Interiors and EGI the challenge was met and successfully completed on programme dates and safely.
Such was the intensity of the works on the project EGI were charged with surveying 7 of the floors with the aim of manufacturing approx 500 panels of 12.8 Acoustic Laminated Glass and then achiving delivery to floor levels within a space of 5 working days, which is an amazing feat to have produced in such a short lead time.
The EGI glazing team on site performed as they always do in completing installation to a high standard whilst ensuring that Health and Safety was adhered too at all times during the project build.
Such was the intensity of the works EGI had installed completely 7 floors of glass and doors in a period of 3 weeks ensuring that the programme was never jeopardised, this was again assisted greatly by working alongside Sound Interiors who managed the works in a professional and efficient manner at all times enabling such productivity to be successful.
